This is an essay on my personal beliefs on America's immigration policies.
Everyday America embraces immigrants from the farthest recesses of the earth. The first to hail the masses is a lady proudly fixed in a harbor inviting them to "Give me you tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..."
Freedom: the intrinsic right to breathe, love, worship, work, to simply brave life free of hindrance. It is the rudiment upon which this august nation was founded. It is why some yearn to behold that lady, and why others yearn to destroy her. We have allowed America's international image of acceptance to garner entirely too much significance. This image has eclipsed the necessity of a tight rein on immigration policies. It has caused us, as a nation, to loosen our guard of who may and may not migrate into our homeland.
