The novel Things Fall Apart is based on a theme of good versus evil in the heart of a person. Everyday people face a conflict between good and evil, when a cashier gives you too much change, when you need to buy a present for your mom's birthday that costs as much as something you have wanted, or even when you forget to do something and need to respond to why you failed to complete your task. In Things Fall Apart the main character, Okonkwo, faces many conflicts between good and evil. The slaying of Ikemefuna that Okonkwo had taken part in, the beating of his wife, and finally the event that ended the story his death, were all instances in which he is involved a conflict between the forces of good and evil.
