The Price of Immigration

Summary:   Deals with the question of why people came to America in the past, and what problems they had to face.


It is obvious that our nation is one made up of immigrants. Everyone who lives here has ancestors who emigrated to America starting back in the late 1400's to early 1500's.The time of highest immigration was in the quarter century before World War I. A main idea is the question if America's historical immigration experience proves to be a useful guide in figuring out the present case of immigration problems. Another question that will remain in our minds forever is this, which goes for the past and present: "Why did people migrate to America in the past, and what were the consequences, for them and for American society, once they landed." Immigrants must have had their own reasons for migrating to America and with these reasons what was their effect on America's society. There were some.....
