Essay analyzes whether or not "mash up" music should be considered legal.
When asked whether I am for or against the "mash up" form of music, there were many considerations that came to mind. A "mash up" song is one that is compiled of pieces of songs that have already been written. After reading the two articles "When Copyright Law meets the mash- up" posted by raoulduke1 and "What is Fair Use in Copyright Law" written by Barbara Weil Gall, I have decided that if a musician is involved in this art form, then it is perfectly acceptable. I have three reasons as to my position including the fact that there is lots of creativity involved in making one of these songs, the fact that the original artists are not losing money due to these songs, and that if the law considers this copying, then they would have.....
