Although Andrew Jackson attempted to represent the "average" man's needs in American society, the means by which he administered his goals was very reminiscent of an earlier government known as monarchy, which would explain the popular "King Andrew" theory.
Jackson became president by attracting a wide spectrum of economic and social groups. He appealed to the yeomen farmers of the west, pleased the south with his pro-slavery stance and he encouraged the north by offering relief from excessive tyranny in the industrial world. Jackson gave the entire white male population the power to vote, thus, the majority of non-elitist Americans voted the non-elite into office and reformed public parties. These non-elitist politicians revised state constitutions and developed a sense of party discipline and loyalty. Thus, Andrew Jackson did, in fact, increase the democratic sense of America,.....
