James Rapier was an all around good guy. In every aspect of his life he tried to promote African Americans well being. He cared just as much about the lives and conditions of all southern blacks as he did about his own. I think Weisner tried to portray James Rapier as an all around good person, who made influential steps in the advancement of colored people, specifically dealing with reconstruction and introducing equal rights to everyone.
