Greek Mythology

Summary:   Essay describes Thesues and how he is a hero.


Heroes in Greek mythology are all depicted as brave warriors who are honoured by everyone. In Greek mythology the mightiest of all follow a certain life pattern. Theseus also follows this ancient stereotype. Three of eight elements from the hero cycle include preparation, the ultimate test and divine intervention. These essential elements were illustrated in different sections of the story. In order for Theseus to lift the rock he had to go through a period of working out, wrestling and racing. During the ultimate test he had to kill the Minotaur. Without the help of Ariadne, Theseus would not have been able to complete his task. Theseus being a hero of Greek mythology follows the patterns of the hero cycle.
