The Traits of Jem Finch

Summary: Essay offers a character analysis of Jem Finch from the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird."
Jem Finch plays a tremendous role in the novel To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee. He is the twelve year old brother of the narrator of the story Scout Finch. He is a very emotional person, but does not like people to see his feelings. In doing this he lets his actions show the kind of person he is. A few of his revealing traits are his determination, his bravery, and his pride.

Jem's determination some times gets in the way of rational thought. He is so determined not be beaten by Atticus he would risk his life to get his pants back from the Radley house. Jem is also determined to play football. He is willing to put on 20 pounds in a year for the chance to play football. His determination would be nothing without his immense bravery.
