Summary: This essay is a description of hippies and the life they lived in the 1960's-1970's.
When you look in the dictionary at the definition of a hippie it is stated as "a person who opposes and rejects many of the conventional standards and customs of society, especially one who advocates extreme liberalism in sociopolitical attitudes and lifestyles." If you ask an average person what they think a hippie is they will probably say a person with long hair, tie-die clothes, and peace signs around their necks. Both definitions are correct. They didn't follow after there parents, but made an alternative culture, which was their very own. They thought of being a hippie as a way of life.

When the men came back from World War II many young couples got married and started their lives together at a young age causing what is now called the baby boom. Due to the baby boom between 1945 and 1955, over half the population was under 30 years old...
