In early high school Edwin Rubenstein was told by his counselor, "You'll never make it in college; you're just not college material." Today Ed has two masters degrees in economics and political science and one PhD in psychology. He fought against the odds for what he wanted and he achieved his goals. Although one of his goals when he was younger was not, to become an economics specialist fell into his lap and he made the best out of it that he could. His speech "The Economics of Crime" perfectly collates with his other speeches that he has made after "The Economics of Crime." These speeches include, but are not limited to, "Reverse Brain Drain" Dec. 2001, "Can Immigrants Save Social Security"" Aug. 2002, and "Poverty: The Immigrant Dimension" Oct. 2003.
