Inclusion

Summary:   My essay is about inclusion in the education system.

In the article There is No Place Called " Inclusion," written by Cathy Pratt, Ph.D., she talks about how educators and parents need to take action concerning the new law concerning inclusion of all students in the classroom. As educators we need to take every necessary step to make sure all children have a learning opportunity that they can get optimum results. Teachers need to educate themselves about the disability that the child being mainstreamed into the classroom has.

It is the responsibility of the school and the teacher to make sure all necessary materials and instructions are made clear to the student and anyone directly associated with the learning experience of the student that is being done to give the child the best education possible. The laws of inclusion are fairly new, however, as a school community it is imperative that we take this matter very seriously to make sure the students in the classroom understand that the child is no different from themselves they just learn in different ways. If the school the teacher does not supply formal education it is the responsibility of the teacher to make sure they research the disability as well as teaching strategies that will serve for a well rounded and interesting way of teaching for all of the students in the classroom. Using the students themselves may help give the "special" student a better feeling that he or she fits in and help the other students to understand that the disabled child wants to learn and make friends also.
