I personally believe, and the Catholic Church also believes that life is very sacred and every effort should be made to protect it. Christianity teaches that every person is made in the image of God and that each life is a precious gift from God, therefore it is scared.

In fact, this is a core principal which forms the backbone for many teachings in the Catholic Church.
