The definition of an eating disorder is when a person eats, or refuses to eat, in order to satisfy a spiritual need and not a physical need or it can an emotional and physical problem that is associated with an obsession with food, body weight, or body shape#. There are numerous types of eating disorders which are anorexia nervosa, binge eating (compulsive eating), reverse anorexia nervosa (muscle dysphoria), and bulimia nervosa.

Anorexia nervosa is a disease when a person stops eating or looses their appetite because they fear of gaining too much weight. Anorexia does not develop at a specific age, it can happen at any time in a persons life. It is known that women suffer from anorexia more than men do, but the number of males are increasing.
