There are few people in world history that have been able to successfully take onone of the world's greatest empires, and one of these men is Gandhi. This AcademyAward winning film was made to show the world the story of Gandhi and his fightfor racial equality through civil disobedience in his homeland of India. Thefilmmaker shows Gandhi how he really was, a kind, peaceful, passionate, andstubborn man who was ready and willing to die for the cause for which hechallenged history in itself.
The viewer first sees Gandhi as a young lawyer traveling first class to SouthAfrica. The train conductor was shocked to see the small Indian man sitting socomfortably in first class, which was not done in South Africa at the time, thoughGandhi was able to change that.
