The Yellow Wallpaper is a very unique and original story. The author name is Charlotte Perkins Gilman, who is also the main character. The story is so interesting because of Charlotte's symbolic approach towards post-delivery depression. Post-delivery depression is a stage most women go through after delivering a baby. It usually occurs in women because the hormones are consistently changing after pregnancy. Symptoms of post-delivery depression may include lack of energy, persistent feelings of hopelessness, guilt or worthlessness, and frequent crying. In the story, Charlotte is a victim of post-delivery depression. She just delivered a baby boy, and is living in a hereditary estate for the summer. Charlotte is married to John, who is a physician.
