Miss Marple and Master Kenobi

Summary:   This essay is a character comparison between Miss Marple featured in "Nemesis", and Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones."


The detective character in a drama is important to the progression of the plot. Two characters, Miss Jane Marple from Nemesis directed by David Tucker and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones directed by George Lucas, are detectives. Though they are different in some characteristics, Miss Marple and Master Kenobi are very similar in others. Because she is known for her skills as a detective, Jason Rafiel hires Miss Marple to investigate and solve the murder of a girl, Verity Hunt. In Attack of the Clones, Master Kenobi "journeys to the galaxy's outer rim to locate the source of these foul plots [assassination attempts on Senator Padmé Naberrie]" (Honeycutt).
