Since the beginning of time, people have been modifying their bodies into various shapes to achieve the cultural standard of beauty. Today's society and media often gives off the perception that everyone has to have a slender body image. Many young girls see pop stars, movie stars, and models, and have a desire to look like them. Many relationships exist between popularity and being thin. In order to alter their body to look like the common standard of beauty, some people will use any means necessary. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder associated with people who try to achieve these body figures. It can affect anyone, at any age, and can take a dangerous toll on his or her health and life. If this disease is left untreated, it can be fatal.
