Can Euthanasia Be Justified?

Summary: Deals with the very controversial issue of euthanasia.
Rapid and dramatic developments in medicine have given us the opportunity to save more lives than in the past. Medical technology has also given us the power to sustain the life of terminally ill patients whose physical or mental condition cannot be restored and whose diseases cannot be cured.

Many of these people want their relatives or their doctors to take measures against their living death. These measures are called euthanasia and there are two different forms: active and passive euthanasia. Active euthanasia means to administer a lethal drug or injection and when somebody turns off the life-support machine this is called passive euthanasia.

I think that it is very difficult to decide whether euthanasia should be legalised or not but I hold the view that it definitely can be justified in some cases.
