The legacy and vestiges of slavery still plagues a majority of Blacks in our society today, Blacks lag behind their White counterparts significantly in attaining post-secondary degrees and in entering professions that requires licensure. The differences between American blacks and whites in resources, environments and inherited intellectual capital have been a long time in the making. Being Black in American society has comes with a different set of experiences than being white. Black people are often assigned to lower academic tracks throughout school. They are taught and counseled with lower expectations by less skilled teachers in more poorly funded schools. They live in families with fewer resources. They often attend school in more distressed neighborhoods or in suburban areas where they are often a socially isolated minority. They have peers who alienated by these very.....
