Equality

Summary:   Essay discusses if we can ensure equality.

I don't think we can ever insure fairness and equality for all. There will always be someone who ruins it for everyone. If Adam and Eve didn't eat the fruit, someone else would have later on. Our society is focused on being the best and having the best. Every one wants to be better than everyone else is, no one wants to feel equal.

In school many kids get picked on. The bully usually suffers form low self-esteem. At this age it is rare to find someone who always have high self-esteem. It is the fault of our society. Everyone feels so inadequate.

I feel we could eliminate a lot of discrimination if all of us personally tried to do one nice thing for another once a day. Kari and I have someone in our gym class that is quite shy. If he is on either one of our teams we make sure he gets to participate. I dislike seeing kids left out, and try my hardest to include them.

I think intolerance needs to be taught better at a younger age. As sad as our history is, it needs to be taught. We also can't be letting certain people get away with everything. The Native Americans seem to have a tendency to get away with a lot. Teachers and administrators don't really care. If a Native American beats up a white student, it is more than likely the white student's fault. I have also witnessed in classrooms that they talk back to the teacher way too much, and they don't get in trouble. If I ever had enough guts to say some of the things Indians say, I would be kicked out of the room so fast. If they don't feel like going to class they can skip, by going to Indian Ed. By allowing them to do so, we are proving that not everyone is equal. There is not a Caucasian Ed. for us white children. We are required to attend class. Until Indian Ed. is removed our school will not be equal.

Teachers teach us in school that everyone is equal. That isn't so. It really upsets me that all these teachers are saying how whites and Indians are equal. They aren't, they get to skip school without consequences. Something in our school definitely needs to change.

Until everyone in our society attends therapy, we will never be equal. People need to boost their self-confidence and realize that we all can be equal and the world won't fall apart. I honestly feel this society will never be able to insure equality for all.
