The America's were a land of new opportunity for many Europeans who opposed the Catholic religion. Captain John Smith and William Bradford were two Puritans who tried to help this idea of America, an idealistic new land, become reality for many. During the early 1600's Smith and Bradford both helped to develop the first colonies in America for Europeans to live in. These two men were similar in some ways, but were two very different leaders with unlike views.

William Bradford and Captain John Smith both came to America with a similar ideas in mind, they both wanted to prosper in the new world and manage colonies with people like them. Both were in the first colonies of their new land. Smith set up the original English colony in Jamestown, Virginia and Bradford helped to set.....
