Summary: Essay depicts Native Americans as victims of injustice.
In the past, Native Americans have been victims of unjust actions by the United States government many times. Most of these actions were caused because of the United States government forcing the Native Americans to move from their homeland to certain reservations elsewhere. Some examples of this are the Battle of Little Bighorn, which occurred because of the decreased amount of land given to the Indians, and the battle at Bear Paw, which took place because the Indians had to move from the Wallowa Valley to another reservation in Idaho. The massacre at Wounded Knee is another example. This massacre occurred because of misinterpretations of the sacred Ghost Dance. Thinking that it was a war dance, the US government quickly surrounded the Lakota Chief, Big Foot (who was deeply involved in the Ghost Dance) and his people and tried to disarm them.
