The French and Indian war had ended, and Americans throughout the colonies were left with a new spirit of independence. The French "Hawk" had been destroyed, and the Americans were in good spirits and happy with the British government for getting rid of them. However attitudes toward Britain began to change as time went by, and Americans became more and more fed up with the way they were being treated. "Unfair" laws passed by the British parliament angered the Americans, who countered them with protests and boycotts. These small sparks of rebellion eventually burst into a fire of revolution. The American colonies moved from loyalty, to protest, to rebellion in the twelve years following the French and Indian war.
