Affirmative Action
The debate over affirmative action is one of the most contested topics in our society. Both sides have expressed their views regarding the topic. Those opposed to it would say something to the effect that it is unfair to give people special privileges based on their race or that, positions in school or workplace should be earned through hard work and qualifications. In a new study UCLA professor Richard Sander found that affirmative action actually hurt African-Americans who were attending law school. His findings showed that less than half of the African Americans who attend the top law schools graduate and pass the bar exam on their first try whereas 80 percent of whites do.
