Women are very important in everyone's life. Women have to go through many hardships as a wife, as a sister and as a daughter. In the past women were not able to go to work or to school. Only men worked outside to bring money for living. Women were supposed to do all the house work.
In the past as a wife the only thing women did was stand by their husband's side. When husband come home, dinner had to be on the table. Their clothes and their soapstone had to be ready. Her job was cleaning the house, washing the dishes, clothes and to raise the children. They were not allowed to express themselves and to do things they wanted to do. Most importantly in case of a divorce the children would belong to the husband. Even though the wife was the one who gave it birth and took physical and emotional care of their children.
As sisters we still have to go through a lot more than brothers. If the family had less money they would stop the sister's education to continue the brother's. Brothers were allowed to be outside and have fun with friends but sisters were not. If brothers and sisters fought or did something wrong, sisters got into trouble and brothers did not. If brothers have girlfriends parents are happy and laughing. But daughters are not allowed to have boyfriends, and are given punishments if they do have one. All the house work is done by the daughters because they are told they would need to know this to be a good wife. Daughters are not allowed to do activities like football, basketball and swimming. Their activities should be swinging, knitting or doing chores. Some countries even pay money to families that will marry their daughter.
In these days women go outside the house and work and also do house work. Daughters also go to school and other problems are taken care of by her parents. In Canada women have a lot more freedom then even men sometimes. They are able to have a house, money and their children and live a happy life and do not need a husband to take care of them.
Both brothers and sisters are given equal opportunities in a family, to study or work. The sisters are allowed to be outside as long as their brothers. House work is shared by all the members of the family and not just women. Sisters can have boyfriends and chose their own husbands. In the 21 century, sisters and brothers have the same rights and girls can do anything that boys can do. Daughters choose their own path in life.
I feel very sorry for women in the past because they had so little power and could not live their own lives. Everything was in the hands of men. Women are a lot more independent and strong. Everyone should be allowed to make their own foot steps in the sand.
