Immigration is to enter or settle in a new country.

There are many reasons people immigrate to other countries. Here are the top ten reasons why people immigrate.

  1. Personal suitability was ranked first because if people have little motivation, initiative, and have a hard time adapting, they are unlikely to move
  2. Occupation was ranked second because unless a person has a good job, they will have a hard time getting out of a country. Also it would be easier for a person with a good occupation to get a decent job in Canada.
  3. Language ability was ranked third because communication is important to adapt to new situations.
  4. A relative in Canada was ranked fourth because they help you adapt to the new culture. They are also like a support group.
  5. Arranged employment was ranked fifth because you would need a job in Canada in order to lead a good life.
  6. Education was ranked sixth because a good education could help immigrants get a decent job in Canada. It could also help immigrants know what to expect in a new country.
  7. Education and training was ranked seventh because if new immigrants do not have the skills of a particular job they will not get it.
  8. Age was ranked eight because the government has laws against people under the age of eighteen to live alone and to drive.
  9. Work experience was ranked ninth because an employer would need to know your work experience in order to give you a job.
  10. Demographics are ranked tenth because people don't really need to know somebody's characteristics unless they are applying for a job.

Having family ties in Canada is very important to immigrants. Families can help immigrants find a place to stay in Canada. They can also help them find a job faster because they have connections. Family ties are also important to lend new immigrants money. Family ties are really important because they can help sponsor new immigrants get into Canada.

Jobs for 14-18 year olds

There are lots of jobs for 14 to 18 year olds such as paper route, cashier, farming, tutor, babysitting, receptionists, YMCA, waiter.

Paper route- the job of delivering papers (newspapers etc) regularly

Cashier- a store employee who handles cash and deals with customers

Farming- to plant and raise crops

Tutor- a teacher or private instructor

Babysitting- to take care of a child or children when the parent or guardian is absent

Receptionists- an office worker to help take care of visitors and answer the telephone

YMCA- to take care of young children and to teach them

Waiter- somebody who serves at a table in a restaurant
