Heart of Darkness

Summary:   Discusses the novel, Heart of Darkness. Provides a plot summary of the text. Analyzes the character of Kurtz and describes how he changes in the novel.


In the novel Heart of Darkness, the goal is to save one of the crew members, Kurtz. Kurtz is part of the Company, but he is lost in a jungle, and there his life changes. Here he is killing people and putting their head on sticks in front of his hut, creating slaves to work for him, and as well as having a mistress. Yet, he has good things going for himself such as a fiancée, his talent of painting beautiful pictures, and writing poetry. Why could a man who has everything basically mapped out for him, stoop that low and do the things that he's done?
