Comparison between Stalin and Mussolini

Summary: Compares the two dictators Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini. Examines how they differed in their ideologies, in the way they took power, and in the way they died.
Two of the most powerful and feared personalities of the twentieth century were Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini. These men transformed their nations into great and powerful countries. But during their reigns, people were living under a blanket of fear and oppression. Even if they were both cruel dictators, Mussolini and Stalin were different in their ideologies, in the way they took power, and in the way they died.

First of all, Mussolini and Stalin share several similarities. Stalin was born into a family of illiterate Georgian peasants. Mussolini had modest origins too. His father was a poor blacksmith, and his mother was a teacher in a primary school. Also, Stalin grew in a very religious family; his parents were fervent Orthodox Christians. Likewise, Mussolini was born into a traditional Catholic family. Another similarity is that both of them had violent personalities, mainly because they had difficult childhoods...
