The Martian Chronicles

Summary:   Examines The Martian Chronicles, written by Ray Bradbury. Uses the critical lens "Man kind is a Monster." Describes how the novel has shown many ways in which humans have gone corrupt.


The Martian Chronicles, written by Ray Bradbury, is about man's journey to Mars written in many short stories. Each story tells a different perspective of the new frontier and Ray Bradbury's view of humans. I trust that the quote "Mankind is a monster" goes very well with this novel. Throughout history mankind has acted in a unmoral way and without much respect towards each other. This novel has shown many ways in which humans have gone corrupt.

One example which proves my thesis is during the fourth expedition when Spender talks to Captain Wilder about humans and how he believes that once many humans get to Mars they will rip it apart like it's theirs, change it to fit themselves and their wants and try to change Mars to in a second Earth. What Spender foreshadows becomes.....
