One day a boy named David has a dream about a modern city with cars, airplanes, and tall buildings. Except David has no idea what these things are. The society he lived in was very different than the society we live in today. They had no perception of technology. When David woke up, he told his sister about the dream and asked her if there was really a place like that. She told him it was probably about the old people, but also tells him not to tell anybody else about it. This was good advice because their society didn't accept anybody who was even slightly different. As he grows older, he has the dream less often and eventually forgets all about it. One day, David meets a little girl who seems pretty normal until she reveals the fact that she has six toes on...
