The main character in Lily's Crossing was Lily and Albert. Lily is a sweet little girl. She is twelve years old girl with short, blond hair. You can say that at times she could be a little stubborn. The other main character in the story is Albert. Albert is from Hungary. Albert came to the USA to stay with his grandmother because he lost his family in the war. Albert is very curious with his bright blue eyes and his accent. Lily and Albert became great friends.

It was the bad summer of 1944. World War II changed the life of everyone. Lily is left with her grandmother to care for her and foresees a long summer ahead of her at Rockaway Beach. Lily's father is drafted and sent off to France to fight for the war, while Lily is left under the care of her rather bad grouchy...
