Yann Martel wrote the thrilling novel The Life of Pi, his most proclaimed novel. The main character Piscine Pascal a raconteur, also known as Pi, becomes deracinated almost a year when his family's cargo ship sinks on the way to Canada. In the lifeboat survive a Bengal tiger, an orangutan, a spotted hyena and Pi. After many days only Pi and Richard Parker the tiger remain. Throughout the novel they both face many hardships from lack of food and water, heat of the sun, and small living spaces. For a short time they land on an island where they find food and fresh water, but it has a secret. Finally they land in Mexico, Richard departs without saying goodbye, and Pi surprisingly feels no jubilation. Yann Martel utilizes changes in setting in The Life of Pi.....
