Between the presidencies of Lincoln and McKinnely, no American president left a significant impact on the shape of democracy. Justly, Theodore Roosevelt is the president who shaped the position for the twentieth century. His impact in office brought the power back to where it belongs, reshaped the foreign affairs policy, and turned the focus back on to the American people. Thusly he became the prototype for a growing nation. He grabbed the reigns of the presidency out of the wrong hands and back into his own.

Before Roosevelt presidential power was steadily weakening. The nation was primarily run by congress or the big wigs on Wall Street. This is evident through the events that followed the Civil War such as the rising power of industry tycoons. One can also see the power of Congress throughout Reconstruction. But.....
