Summary: This essay explores the colonization of America. Describes how each colony evolved according to its economic development. Examines negative attitudes toward native Americans.
The seventeenth century was one of great discovery and development. Historians tell us that through facts and their interpretations of the facts. The way historians present history is a controversial subject. Some historians are bias about certain events or certain people, and can sometimes, amateurishly, use their prejudice in their interpretation of history. An instance where this occurred was in the "Planting of the Colonies" block of American history. Two different books, written at different intervals of time, displayed a totally different impression on the right the British had to settle the thirteen colonies. One was negative towards the Native Americans, and the other was positive, however, the authors of both books had an obvious bias against the Native Americans and changed the view given to the reader about them to support their opinion on the feasibility of the establishment of the colonies.
