White Oleander: A Review

Summary: Reviews the novel "White Oleander", by Janet Fitch. Summarizes the story. Explores the main characters, Astrid and Ingrid.
Her mother is hauled away in handcuffs. "Don't worry, I'll be back in an hour," she calls after her. But Astrid knows the truth. Her mother, Ingrid Magnussen, murdered Barry Kolker. A man who Ingrid gave herself to completely and fell in love with. She used to say that love was for the weak. She used to tell her daughter that she was too strong for men, and that she didn't need a man, and here she was, being yanked out of he L.A. apartment because she gave into her weakness. Astrid can only watch Ingrid be pulled away by policemen and wonder what will happen to she and her mother.
