Assessment Task 1b
Summary: Constructs a formula using the tangent rule of a triangle. This equation can then be used to calculate the value of an angle when kicked from a certain distance along the perpendicular line.
Using the information provided with the task statement, a formula can be constructed using the tangent rule of a triangle. This equation can then be used to calculate the value of an angle when kicked from a certain distance along the perpendicular line.
To find angle Y-
To find angle Z-
To find -
This form of this equation was used to work out the sizes of the other unknown angles, in task A and task B.
Part one of task A required the calculation of the position which would maximize the kicking angle. The use of technology such as a computer and graphics calculator enabled the answer to be found easily, as opposed to the less accurate and efficient method of guess and check.
To find the kicking distance which produced the maximum kicking angle, the equation, was simply typed into the GRAPH function of a graphics...
