The current Australian euthanasia laws should be changed to the Northern Territory's Rights of the Terminally Ill Act. Under current common law, not enough protection is provided to certain stakeholders who could be easily coerced into death against their will. The Rights of the Terminally Ill Act provides the extra protection needed against this abuse. The general Australian public agrees to euthanasia, and the benefits of it greatly outweigh the negatives. The Rights of the Terminally Ill Act, with one minor change, will provide a greater protection against death against a patient's will than common law.
