If you look back in history there are many tragic tales of people hurting themselves and each other for many different causes. There are those that make people's hearts weep and others that people know nothing of at all. From my experience I have learned that you can never genuinely sympathize the enormity of pain and suffering that others have gone through unless you have witnessed it first hand. One story you will find particularly mortifying relates to my mother and father's tale of coming to America and their previous life in Asia. Many people know the story of Hitler and what he and his Nazis did to the Jews. Around the time period of the Vietnam War, Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge created death and destruction of the same magnitude as Hitler.
