The Color Purple, A Character Analysis of Harpo

Summary:   Analyzes "The Color Purple," by Alice Walker. Provides a character study of Harpo. Describes why he is integral to the plot.


This essay is going to be based in one of the characters of the book "Colour Purple", which would be Harpo.

Harpo is Mr._'s son, and he has two more brothers, and his mother had died. This is why his father marries Celie, to have a little help from her to substitute her form his wife. Harpo is cruel to her, he is sexist and he treats her as if she was a slave, and he doesn't mind what her feelings are, he thinks women are to clean and to serve him at any moment.

Anyhow, Harpo is not mentioned very often by the other characters, he has some respect for being Mr._'s son (everyone fears from Mr._). Harpo is by one way or another, a wimp because he has not got the valenty to answer his.....
