Summary:  

Reviews the story Siddhartha, by Herman Hess. Provides a plot summary. Examines the different roles Siddhartha plays throughout the book.

Hermann Hesse expresses how people play roles through out their lives through the character Siddhartha in the novel. The character, Siddhartha goes through his life playing many different roles, as all individuals through out their life. He starts out as a son, then a lover and then a businessman. Yet, needs more. These roles are not enough, and he needs to find himself as every person must do sometime within their life. This is considered to be the time of mind. The point in ones life where they need to do something that is meaning full, until they is satisfied.

In his ascetic live as a Brahmin he is of the highest cast in his society. He comes from a very good family with well-developed morals. His father has high hopes for him because he is.....
