The Renaissance Vs. Middle Ages

Summary: Essay describes the culture during the periods of the Renaissance and the Middle Ages.

The word Renaissance means rebirth. The Renaissance, 1300's to 1500's differ from the Medieval Period, or Middle ages, 1000-1300, in three different ways. These ways were art, literature, and the power of church.

One difference between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance was art. The Renaissance artists wanted art that showed human beauty and religion where as in the Middle ages art was very gothic. Renaissance art is more lifelike than in the art of the Middle Ages, which was very blocky. Renaissance artists studied perspective, or the differences in the way things look when they are close to something or far away. The artists painted in a way that showed these differences. As a result, their paintings seem to have depth. Some of the most famous artist was from the Renaissance including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, and Raphael.
