Summary:  

Essay provides a summary of Chapters 1-31 of the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Chapter 1

Scout is the narrator of the story. She has a brother named Jem and a dad named Atticus. Atticus is a lawyer and lives in Maycomb county. Jem is her older brother. They live a cook named Calpurnia. The first Finch ancestor to come to America was Simon Finch who came from England to escape persecution for religion. Atticus has a brother named Jack who is in Boston studying medical and a sister named Alexandria who looks after Finchs Landing. The year is 1933 and a boy named Dill visits them. Dill is an adventurous kid and befriends Jem and Scout. After hearing about Boo Radley who lives in a "haunted house" Dill dares Jem to try and get him to come out of the house.

Chapter 2

Dill leaves Maycomb county because the summer is.....
