Before Eleanor Roosevelt, in the United States, the role of First Lady had always been more of a formal title than a political role. First Ladies were seen merely as the wife of the current President and were never really expected to put forth any sort of political effort of contribute greatly to the events going on in the White House or worldwide. Eleanor Roosevelt changed the role of First Lady forever by not only involving herself in the success of her husband, but also the success of others both during and after the time in which her husband, Franklin D. Roosevelt, was in office. Her loyalty to her husband, political precedents set during her time as First Lady, as well as her contributions to the world stage make it easy to understand why Eleanor Roosevelt.....
