The Aztec were truly the greatest people of the Americas until the Spaniards conquered them.

When the Aztec first settled in Tenochtitlan, some things helped them start to become a sturdy tribe. The city Tenochtitlan was built on an island in the middle of a lake (Chrisp 5). This must have helped them in defense against attack of enemies and invaders. The geographical part of where they lived must have helped strengthen their empire.
