Kaffir Boy, written by Mark Mathabane, is about his childhood in South Africa. The book is a chronicle of his days as a young child to where he left to go to America and the experiences he went through to get there. His life was full of trouble from the days he could remember to the day he left. Most of his time as a youth was spent scavenging for food and evading trouble, but somehow through it all he managed to get an excellent education and rise up through the ranks of tennis players to eventually come to an American school on a full scholarship. Other things that he battles through are his family, his so-called friends, and the omnipresent problem of money. Throughout the book, there is a theme that stands firm, and that.....
