Apathy

Summary: Essay is a review of the novel "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury.
The people of the town in Fahrenheit 451 were controlled by a total lack of concern. They never learned to think beyond their forms of entertainment. The people on their television programs became like family to them and the need to have conversations with their real family became nonexistent. The people wrapped up in these shows disregarded everything around them.

Guy Montag becomes intrigued by his young neighbor Clarisse McClellan. Clarisse is seventeen and lives next to the Montags. Clarisse doesn't enjoy the mindless entertainment that society provides but prefers the outdoors and actually conversing with her family. Guy, fascinated by this girl's strange ways, notices that Clarisse is the only person who isn't unsympathetic to the world around her. She begins to make guy think. She opens him up and strikes an interest in him to understand more than just the world surrounding him.
