In the land of Rivendale

Where Gandalf ruled supreme.

At last after the battle as Gandalf lay wounded, his brave hobbits Frodo and Bilbo came to him. Ten Gandalf spoke to them, "At last my hobbits bravest in the world and most beloved, my world is fading. Lo! We have returned and we have spent, and now the time of payment draws near."

Bilbo knew well what he meant and had long dreaded the death of his master; nonetheless he was consumed by his grief. Frodo and Bilbo gently uplifted Gandalf and carried him.
