Miguel Hidalgo played a major role during Mexico's fight for independence, as well as simply helping other villagers with their daily struggles. When Hidalgo went through towns with a banner of Mexico's patron saint, he received support from many people throughout the country. The group of people marched their way through the country in hopes for freedom. Although Hidalgo was eventually captured and killed, his efforts continue to be remembered each year on September 16. On this day, we remember Mexico's fight for freedom and people, such as Miguel Hidalgo, who made a difference.
