"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself", said Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his inaugural speech in 1933. Roosevelt was elected as the 32nd president in 1933, in a time of grave danger and economic penury. The Great Depression was at it worst, in which at least sixteen million people were unemployed. Americans depended on Roosevelt to save them, and he made sure he wouldn't fail them. The "First Hundred Days" of Roosevelt's presidency was like no other; he recovered the economy drastically using series of policies. Franklin Delano Roosevelt's presidency has a left an impact on American society, not only because he saved the economy mainly from the Great Depression through the New Deal, but he also set new precedents for presidents to follow.
