Countless novels convey a certain message about life, however some express this message more than others. In the novel Angel's Gate, by Gary Crew, there are many issues that are raised throughout the story that teach the reader a valuable lesson in life. These adversities include facing challenges, acknowledging mistakes, accepting responsibility and making decisions.

In the novel, facing challenges was a major issue in the life of Kimmy. These issues helped to build Kimmy's character. One of these challenges, for example, would have been when Kimmy was asked to go camping with his friend, Bobby. He was ecstatic about camping but as soon as the day arrived he was scared and weak.
